The project “Sustainable Silvopastoral Producers of the Argentine Pampas” (ID 5176) has successfully completed its validation process, audited by AENOR Confia for registration against the VCS (Verified Carbon Standard).
The project is being developed in the Pampas region of Argentina, covering farms in the province of Buenos Aires -including the La Negra, La Negrita and La Florida fields-and with the potential to expand into Entre Ríos, Santa Fe and Córdoba. This is a grouped agroforestry project based on silvopastoral systems that integrate livestock production with forestry.
The initiative contemplates the implementation of sustainable practices in an initial area of 1,590 hectares, with the objective of restoring degraded soils, improving productivity and capturing carbon through the incorporation of tree biomass.
The project is developed by Comercio y Desarrollo S.A., in coordination with Establecimientos La Negra S.A. and with the technical support of INTA and ProSustentia as certification advisor.
The field validation visit was conducted during the audit process carried out between 2024 and 2026, culminating in the validation of the project under the VM00047 methodology of the VCS version 4.7 standard.
The next step is Verra’s review for approval and final registration in the standard.
This milestone represents a key step towards the generation of high integrity carbon credits, contributing to climate change mitigation and the development of more resilient production systems.
