On August 26, a public consultation on the carbon project developed by BERCA was held at Estancia Ralicó in Córdoba, with technical support from ProSustentia, represented by Ana Boglioli and Camila Rastelli.
The event was attended by 30 representatives from various institutions, including the INTA Huinca Renancó Rural Extension Agency, the National University of Río Cuarto, IPEMyA No. 188 “Dr. Antonio Pérez,” SENASA, the Villa Huidobro Livestock Center Civil Association, AGD Alimentos Naturales, Cargill, local producers, and residents, among others.
During the meeting, the project’s objectives were presented. The project aims to improve livestock management and increase soil organic carbon through rotational grazing in the caldén forest, perennial alfalfa with no-till farming, no-till seeding in firebreaks, and cover crops.
The discussion also covered the potential benefits, costs, and risks of the activities, the measures planned to prevent impacts, and the certification process under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). The consultation provided a forum for sharing questions, experiences, and proposals from stakeholders involved in production, education, research, and public management of the territory.
At ProSustentia, we are working with BERCA on the technical design of the project and the preparation of this participatory process, whose contributions will be taken into account during the subsequent stages of development and implementation.
