During July, the Rural Exposition was held at the Buenos Aires Fairgrounds. During the weeks of the event, exhibitions related to sustainability issues in the agricultural sector were held.
Among the specific conferences related to the role of the sector in decarbonization. On July 19, leading voices from the carbon market in Argentina were present to explore current projects and learn about the public sector’s perspective. On July 24, sustainability and decarbonization strategies in the agricultural sector were discussed.
During this second meeting, ProSustentia had the opportunity to present the work we are developing together with the Sociedad Rural Argentina. This consists of the development of a carbon balance calculator specifically for Argentine agricultural sector, in which producers will be able to upload information on their farms and learn about the impact and carbon capture of their activities. The work is part of SRA’s ongoing sustainability program.
We hope that this tool will be the starting point that will allow agricultural and forestry establishments to know their baseline greenhouse gas emissions and then establish mitigation actions.
