In September 2022, the World Bank awarded ProSustentia the consultancy service titled “Guidelines for the Formulation of a Climate Action Plan in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area.”
This project aims to establish the foundations for eight selected municipalities to identify sources of GHG and climate risks affecting their territories and populations. The goal is to progress towards carbon-neutral, resilient, and inclusive territories. Based on this analysis, we will propose strategies to diversify and expand these actions, with the aim of reducing their climate footprints and increasing resilience in the near future, contributing to the development goals established globally for 2030. Furthermore, we seek to promote regional learning and cooperation, reaching other municipalities within the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) that are not directly involved in this project.
We hope to generate knowledge and promote best practices in the districts within the metropolitan context as the main result. These will be crucial for the preparation of a Climate Action Plan in the AMBA, which will drive the development of specific programs and projects to support and consolidate the proposed guidelines. To achieve this, we will hold a series of meetings, workshops, and exchanges with representatives of the eight local governments, who will receive training on various topics related to the project, as well as exchanges with other key stakeholders in the territory. Our team of professionals and specialists, selected specifically for this work, will lead these spaces.
We will complete the guidelines for the Climate Action Plan of the AMBA and the eight municipalities within one year. Once completed, the regional and municipal reports will become tools to implement improvements in the territory, thus promoting a proactive approach to Climate Change.
