Since 2011, Agroempresa Forestal (AF) has developed and operated four financial trusts for forestry investment, called “Bosques del Uruguay” (BDU I, II, III y IV). In total, it manages an area of 70 thousand hectares. The main objective of BDU projects is to sustainably develop pine and eucalyptus plantations to produce high quality timber for sawmilling, pulp, and energy in the Uruguayan and international markets.
All these projects promote sustainable forest management, holding FSC certification and carbon sequestration certification under the VCS and CCB standards.
