{"id":3138,"date":"2026-10-13T15:30:38","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T18:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prosustentia.com\/pewma-project-local-participation-and-a-new-step-forward-in-its-certification-process\/"},"modified":"2026-10-13T15:30:38","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T18:30:38","slug":"pewma-project-local-participation-and-a-new-step-forward-in-its-certification-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prosustentia.com\/en\/pewma-project-local-participation-and-a-new-step-forward-in-its-certification-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Pewma Project: Local Participation and a New Step Forward in Its Certification Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 12, <a href=\"https:\/\/registry.verra.org\/verra\/public\/program\/VCS\/projects\/5764\">the Pewma Project\u2019s<\/a> Participatory Workshop\u2014organized by 360 Conservaci\u00f3n Patagonia with technical support from ProSustentia\u2014was held at School No. 783 in R\u00edo Pico, Chubut.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by residents of R\u00edo Pico, along with members of the technical and field teams from 360 Conservaci\u00f3n Patagonia and Camila Rastelli, representing ProSustentia.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the project\u2019s objectives were presented, along with its reforestation and native forest restoration activities, the studies conducted on biodiversity and the local community, and the actions taken since its inception in April 2025. The certification process under Verra\u2019s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community &#038; Biodiversity (CCB) standards was also explained.<\/p>\n<p>During the workshop, participants worked in groups to analyze and prioritize proposals related to fire prevention and control, training in forestry trades, environmental education, and collaboration with scientific and technological institutions. The session provided an opportunity to gather input on the proposed actions, the challenges involved in implementing them, and the ways in which the community and local institutions could get involved.<\/p>\n<p>The event took place one day after the project completed its validation process under the VCS standard and began the<strong> registration<\/strong> phase<strong> with VERRA<\/strong>. This progress represents an important milestone on the path toward joint VCS and CCB certification.<\/p>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/prosustentia.com\/en\/carbon-credits-certification-climate-mitigation-projects\/\">ProSustentia<\/a>, we are supporting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.360energy.solar\/conservacion-patagonia\">360 Conservaci\u00f3n Patagonia<\/a> through the certification process and in preparing for this participatory event.
